Milestones of FIRE support

FIRE numbers, at the end of 2025:

• Nearly 200 freelancers have received direct hands-on story assistance, including a select portion with grants
• More than 100 reporters have requested Contract Templates to protect themselves
• More than 40 commissioning broadcasters or publishers have requested the same Templates, to protect their freelancers
• More than 350 journalists have benefited from FIRE expertise

The outcomes: 26 of 29 reporters protected, dozens of stories released, eight awards won, and a new generation of standard-raising education via FIRE Consultancies, Tip Sheets on Liability, and FIRE's Guide to liability practices at publishers and broadcasters—all of which facilitate the innovative new "Greenlight" story grants, with an upcoming spring application deadline.
